Trick

Posted on September 21, 2011March 2, 2012

Anna Miller-Yeaman | Sam Barbour

Trick utilised the  front space at TCB to enact an exercise in visual manipulation, through a series of objects, videos and coverings that examined the relationship between vision and the destabilizing capacities of the ‘false image’. Through the use of materials, colours and repetition of pattern, the artists’ aimed to test the status of an appearance that presents itself as false – an appearance that pretends, but makes blatant its pretence. Through the interpretation of this paradoxical visual phenomenon an unstable visual experience is hopefully created.
